SHOOSH for KIDS and SPECTATOR CODE of CONDUCT

This weekend, Saturday 20th May, is the NFA/Office of Sport/Football NSW, 'SHOOSH' for kids day. The message being promoted is a little obvious, the idea being that spectators _quietly_ enjoy children playing soccer.

Booklets, posters and other promotional material in support of the day will be available at our home ground Pitt Park. Away team managers could pop into the ground on their journeys down the mountain to pick up booklets etc. Please see the Ground Official, Daniel Lewis. The NFA suggest that just prior to kickoff, players turn around and respectfully 'shoosh' spectators (I would love some photos of this!)

There is much information and research on this issue, if you would like to learn more, please

This is a national campaign aimed at stopping poor sideline behaviour in junior sport. I found it a very helpful website.

In conjunction with this message the club committee would also like to remind our members of the FFA National Spectator Code of Conduct. A number of documents are available at
NFA.

Basically what it comes down to is spectators are spectators. They come to watch and enjoy the game, provide support for their kids, particularly when morale is low, and support the team coach and manager in their roles. There should be only one coach providing instruction on the day.

Team MARSHALLS have a particular duty in ensuring spectators follow these basic guidelines. So it follows that team Marshalls should be located amongst the spectators and not beside coaches. Marshalls and Ground Officials work together to ensure spectator codes of conduct are met.

If you are concerned about anything on the day: coaching practice, refereeing, spectator behaviour, etc ... please communicate your concerns with your team Marshall and the Ground Official. If your concern is with the Marshall or Ground Official, email the club member protection officer at:

Thank you all, and I hope you have a beautifully quiet and enjoyable game of football this weekend!
