Wenty FC Shirts In Uganda  by Graeme Paterson

When we visited there a couple of years ago the church of 250 people were looking after 275 orphans - either as a result of AIDS, past loss of parents from the Coney and Peoples Army days which started around that region, or simply from rejection by their parents because they could not afford to keep them.

In the last 2 years they started building a kindergarten/primary school for the children such as these. The school started out in tin sheds and is building brick buildings as they can afford through donations - they are on their second or third building now out of a planned half dozen. It has grown quickly as no child is turned away.

They also run a sponsorship program for children in need (similar to World Vision etc) but over 95% of money gets to the children directly, unlike the 70-75% at international charities, and with higher benefits. It is called Life Charity Focus and is based in Budaka and in Nyngan central west NSW.

The children at the school and children of LCF are using the shirts.

The games are local as there is very little transport in the area to get children around. Feet is the go.

Nepean Football Development Program

Kicks off on Monday, 8th May. For those kids who want more out of their soccer ....

The Nepean Football Development Program is the official development program of the NFA and development pathway partner, the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The NFDP will continue to have qualified and experienced coaches delivering the highest quality development training sessions in line with the FFA National Curriculum but also with a few new activities planned.

The NFDP will be delivering our 16 week sessions in 2, 8 week blocks. Players may choose to enrol in both at the start or for each individual bloc, whichever suits them better.

Programs will be hosted at Glenbrook, Penrith, Glenmore Park, Richmond, St Marys and Cranebrook/Jordan Springs.

We offer quality game centred coaching as well as exclusive experiences with the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Club Defribillator

We have officially received our club defibrillator. In a meeting on Monday night, the club committee were presented with a defibrillator from a representative of NSW Royal Life Saving. We were one of twenty three NSW clubs chosen to receive a defib this year. So we're feeling very fortunate, and soon you will be seeing new signage around the clubhouse to indicate the presence of the defib, for not only winter soccer, but summer soccer, little athletics, and hopefully any school groups who make use of the fields.

Yay Royal Life Saving and the Marc Acuri Foundation! Let's not forget about putting in some teams for this years Marc Acuri Cup later in the year.

 Marc Acuri Defibrillator Grant

Recently the club applied for a defibrillator grant, and happily we have been successful and are soon due to have a defibrillator installed and training provided. The defib will be available all year round for Winter and Summer Soccer as well as Little Athletics on the lower oval.

Cardiac arrests are not uncommon on the soccer field, particularly over a certain age, however Marc Acuri was only 15 yrs old when he suffered one and passed away. For more, go to:

If you would like to be a part of the defib training (free ofcourse) please contact me:

The Marc Acuri Foundation also runs a six-a-side football competition every November to helps raise funds. For more info:

Maybe some Wenty teams would be interested in heading down there for this years comp!

OMGoodness ... Today I saw the Light!

And it did shineth down on some Nepean Football grounds.
We WILL have some games on this weekend!

QUICK REMINDER for coaches and managers -

If you are playing away at a NEUTRAL ground but are in fact the HOME team, you will need to provide the team sheet. Our club CompSec Malcolm will have already contacted you via email with team sheet attached.

Please ensure you provide team sheets and are particular about filling it in. NFA generously provides fines for team sheet errors, including 'lost' ones. Happily we have a 3 round waiver to sort ourselves out before the fines are imposed. So managers, please take your OCD hats to the game.

ALSO, REGISTRATION CARDS, don't leave home without them. Been there, done that. It has a bit of a brothers grimm fairy tale ending. Not pretty.

PLAYERS, remember - black shorts, shin pads, and club socks (or in desperation, black socks)

Enjoy your weekends!!
