WFFC had two teams participate in the Proctor Cup in Bathurst on 15th-16th February.
The Proctor Park Challenge is for teams in Under 12 Girls and Under 13/14/15/16/18 Girls from Girls JDL, Girls Youth League, Association Representative, Association Club Teams to play shortened games over a weekend to provide pre-season games in an enjoyable and competitive environment.
Our under 18 girls team played 4 games across the weekend and were grouped with one of the toughest draws which included playing against Marconi, UNSW, Sth Coast Flames and the Newcastle Jets who have a team in the W-League. With two months training and some master plans prepared the girls headed to Bathurst keen to mix it with some top teams.
Day 1: The girls played with steely determination expected from WFFC and were possibly the surprise packet of the group and narrowly went down 2-1 to Sth Coast Flames and then against the run of play conceded two late goals to lose to Marconi. The girls played some amazing football with disciplined defence and some amazing team work in attack. On another day WFFC walk away with two wins.
Day 2: A tougher day for the girls with some injuries ruling two players out but the girls gave it their best and had a 4-0 loss to UNSW and 8-0 loss to the Newcastle Jets who played some thrilling attacking play.It was a highlight for the girls to play against a W-league affiliated team and across the two days the whole team gave 100% in every game, playing with so much passion and skill and it must be noted most of our girls were playing up from under 17's. The Jets even insisted on a team photo with coach Shaun, our resident Novocastrian reluctantly agreeing to this request.
The WFFC coaching staff and parents were so proud of the girls and are looking forward to 2025 season. We also wish our Proctor Challenge girls leaving WFFC this season to play Ruby League all the best and thank them for joining with our girls again.
And a big thank you to the parents for their dedication and support across the weekend and the two month training program for the event. ... See MoreSee Less
