Thinking about football for your child but not sure where to start? Our 5–8-year-old program at Wentworth Falls FC is the perfect introduction to the game.
Is soccer suitable if my child has never played before?
Yes! Our 5–8s program is designed especially for beginners. No experience needed — just a willingness to have fun and give it a go.
What will my child learn?
Through fun, game-based sessions, children will learn:
Basic soccer skills (kicking, dribbling, stopping the ball)
Teamwork and confidence
Sportsmanship and having a go
All sessions are age-appropriate and focused on enjoyment.
Do parents need to stay?
Yes. We ask parents or carers to remain nearby to help children feel safe and supported, especially in their first season.
What equipment is needed?
To get started:
Soccer boots
Shin pads
Drink bottle
Club jerseys are provided for games.
What if my child is shy or unsure?
That’s very common. Our coaches are experienced with young players and create a positive, encouraging environment where children can settle in at their own pace.
How long are sessions and games?
Games are short, fun, and age-appropriate, keeping kids engaged and smiling.
Is it competitive?
No. There are no ladders or scores at this age. The focus is on fun, learning, and participation.
Who coaches the teams?
Teams are coached by club-supported volunteers — often parents — all of whom hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Our focus is always on safety, inclusion, and enjoyment.

Love this 💪🏼"I heard a coach yesterday giving their pre-match team talk and selecting their starting 7.
The 3 that didn't start immediately asked if they were subs.
Coach said, "No, not subs, this week you 3 are the GAME CHANGERS!"
The kids faces lit up! It's amazing how a subtle choice of words can influence kids perspective on things. ... See MoreSee Less
